instants d’Absolu Ecolodge & Spa
Le Lac du Pêcher
Chavagnac 15300, France
“The site had to be unique, iconic of Auvergne’s wilderness, to motivate leaving friends and family.” Laurence Costa
In the Southern part of the “Natural Reserve of the Auvergne Volcanoes” lies a place of enchantment in any season, at the heart of a forest, like an island in an ocean of greenery touching sky.
Quite a special place to stay, one of those best-kept secrets of France: “We hope to share the Cézallier, like a ‘dream of nature', a kind of horizontal vertigo provoked by savanna landscapes, with just enough romance and refinement”.
- Enjoy staying in a green preserved resort, a privileged reserve of biodiversity in the Cézallier with birds migrating on the lake.
- Dining in a restaurant like a window onto Nature for a refined local cuisine.
- Enjoy the special bedroom in the Auvergne’s wilderness... A tented safari spirit room with bed, trunks of yesteryears to fill in with your belongings. (May to October)

The Story by Laurence Costa
…in the late morning, the weather started to change and suddenly Mont Blanc appeared. When I said to myself loud on the chairlift: “how beautiful!”, my companion answered: “You love Nature, you would love Lac du Pêcher (lake)”.
Three months later, after having abandoned a dream of a surprise as a weekend to my boyfriend Daniel (since I got to know in the meantime the little inn by Lac du Pêcher was for sale) we decided to visit it and see by ourselves what it was like. When arriving on site, Daniel stopped and we laughed, saying: “this ain’t true, this is an ecolodge”.
- Water Resources
- Waste Management
- Energy Consumption
The ecolodge offers systems that allow using less water from tap in the bathrooms and has chosen to have showers in the bedrooms rather than baths, offering the pleasures of the bath in the Spa (as a collective outdoor hot tub). It also informs its guests on how not to waste water.
The ecolodge buys by quantities rather than portions (notably for breakfast: jams, butter…) and in the restaurant, there is a separation of waste with a willing to recycle glass, paper… and to compost. In the grill-chalet, plates and glasses are from recycled sugar cane and can be composted as we explain to the clients. Dustbins allow to separate wastes and material that can be composted to educate people.
Since 2014 the ecolodge is heated and gets hot water from a boiler using shredded wood. Such heating material has been compatible with the existing facilities (radiators) and the Hargassner Austrian technology is CO2 neutral and environmentally friendly. On to the ecolodge buys the wood from the forest surrounding it, first forest in France to have signed a Charter that says: for 1 tree cut, 1 tree will be planted.
