General Information on India
India, officially known as the Republic of India, is situated in South Asia. Measured by area it is the the seventh-largest country; it is the second most populous country with over 1.2 billion people. The Asiancountry India is home to the Indus Valley Civilization, it is well known for its long history, the historic trade routes and its cultural wealth. There are four major world religions originating from India; Hinduism, Buddhism, Jainism and Sikhism. The others religions such as Judaism, Christianity and Islam arrived in the first millennium CE and influenced the region's diverse culture. One of the most important economic sectors for the country is agriculture and tourism which is growing rapidly.

India is fascinating, mystical, chaotic, frightening, wonderful, breathtaking, all at the same time. It is not possible to see or experience India in just one trip. So before you plan to go to India, sit down and think what interests you the most. Religious sites can be spotted everywhere, but when heading to North or Central India you will find the biggest choice. To enjoy the beaches you probably should head to the southern part of India.
