Stephan Bode

“It is way more fun when you are economically, environmentally and socially successful.”

An organic sirloin steak was the incubator for Stephan Bode’s sustainable career. The steak did not shrink as much as conventional steaks, and kept its size. The quality convinced him and sparked his interest in organic food – so, the first step towards a more sustainable life and work had been taken.

In 2013, he became manager of the hotel SCHWARZWALD PANORAMA which he refurbished including a new strategy for a holistic sustainable hotel: Besides the redesigned hotel lobby, the wellness, beauty, fitness and health area were expanded. A healthy diet concept based on organic quality and Slow Food and looked after treatments at the health campus complement the hotel’s offer.

His vision: “In general, I wish tourism providers, especially hotels and restaurants, would integrate a sustainable development 100 % into their value chains and understand that the current system won’t work out in the long run.”
