Cabo Blanco is located on the northern coast of Peru. The region is characterized by a dry coastal landscape, long beaches, and a tranquility that has become rare in many parts of the world. Off the coast of Inkaterra Cabo Blanco, turtles and whales can be spotted (seasonally), and in the nearby fishing village of the same name, you can explore the area’s history in Hemingway’s footsteps or watch surfers ride the waves.

Between history and the present

The small village of Cabo Blanco has a long history. The region became famous for deep-sea fishing primarily in the 1950s and 1960s. Some of the world’s largest catches were recorded here, shaping its image to this day. Ernest Hemingway’s visit in 1956 for the film adaptation of his novel “The Old Man and the Sea” also left a lasting impression. The writer spent five weeks in the coastal town, most of which was spent on fishing trips aboard the “Miss Texas.“

This very boat, once used by Hemingway to sail out into the Pacific, is now part of Inkaterra Cabo Blanco. Rather than being used for fishing, however, its primary purpose is to bring guests closer to the ocean and offer them a unique perspective on the region. Here, past and present merge: the boat is closely associated with the era of big-game fishing, when spectacular catches were made—including the largest black marlin ever caught—and it now plays a role in protecting, respecting, and mindfully stewarding the sea. A trip aboard this historic, lovingly restored boat will be a signature experience included in your stay in the future. During the pre- and soft opening period, it is not included, though.

Between nature experiences and action

Today, Cabo Blanco is more famous for its left-point surf break, which offers the chance to catch tubes, than for big-game fishing. When favorable conditions are predicted, surfers from all over the region—and even from Lima—head to this small fishing village.

If you’re looking for less action and more of a nature experience, the beach is perfect for long walks. From Inkaterra Cabo Blanco, you can walk along the water’s edge to the town of Cabo Blanco at low tide (about a 45-minute walk). Alternatively, you can rent snorkeling gear at the hotel or simply enjoy the sound of the waves and the views of the beach, pool, and horizon.

From July to October, you have a good chance of spotting whales. During this period, humpback whales migrate through the warm waters off the coast to raise their calves. It’s not uncommon to see them playing in the ocean right in front of Inkaterra Cabo Blanco. The private marine reserve established there protects the local underwater ecosystem and is an important step toward its long-term preservation.

Your journey to Inkaterra Cabo Blanco

Your journey to Cabo Blanco will likely begin at Talara Airport, easily accessible from Lima. From there, you’ll continue along the coast to Cabo Blanco. Due to the distance, it’s practically impossible for most travelers—and likely for you as well—to reach Talara or Cabo Blanco by other means. The alternatives are both time-consuming (the car or bus ride from Lima to Cabo Blanco takes 16–18 hours) and relatively unsafe if you are unfamiliar with the region. Therefore, act as sustainably as possible in other areas and offset your flight through trusted providers if necessary. From the airport, a comfortable minibus will take you and other travelers to the hotel (Note: During Pre- and Soft Opening, the transfer is not included.)

Located directly on the Pacific coast, Inkaterra Cabo Blanco is ideal for peaceful days by the sea. However, it is not a traditional beach hotel with an entertainment program and endless rows of lounge chairs. Instead, the focus is on open spaces, seclusion, and the coastal landscape. Depending on the season and weather, the Pacific Ocean can be powerful and unpredictable. Therefore, relaxation and long walks take precedence over a traditional beach vacation.

Your stay includes a package with a welcome drink and gift, half board (breakfast and dinner), and a stocked refrigerator upon arrival. It also includes a picnic basket with drinks and snacks for days at the beach (from Soft Opening Period onward).

Meals are served in an open-air lounge with a view of the Pacific Ocean. You can also reserve a table at the Cabo Blanquillo restaurant for a special dinner event. If you’re spending the day at the beach, the staff will gladly prepare a picnic basket for you with alcoholic and non-alcoholic beverages and snacks (included from Soft Opening Period onward).

Inkaterra Cabo Blanco does not currently have a separate spa. Relaxation here comes primarily from the hotel’s location on the Pacific Ocean, the private retreat areas in the suites with plunge pools, and the peaceful daily rhythm of coastal life. Private massages are also available upon request.

Since the hotel is under development, it currently has 11 Amura Suites and two slightly smaller Cabo Blanco Suites. An additional nine suites and rooms are scheduled to be added in 2026. The hotel is intentionally designed to be small, offering an intimate and private setting.

Free Wi-Fi is available at the hotel. However, the peaceful setting invites you to disconnect and fully immerse yourself in your surroundings, the sea, and your own rhythm.
