Description

The Green Spa Resort Stanglwirt is located in Going, near Kitzbühel, at the foot of the Wilder Kaiser mountain range. For over 400 years, the Hauser family has welcomed guests from around the globe. Evolving from a traditional inn and shaped by decades of organic farming, the resort has become a second home for families, active vacationers, and couples.

The grounds surrounding the historic farmstead and hotel are expansive, featuring wellness areas, sports facilities, restaurants, and farmland. Philosophy and history: At home at the Stanglwirt

The Stanglwirt has a history spanning over 400 years. What began as a small 16th-century inn catering to miners and travelers at the foot of the Wilder Kaiser evolved over generations into a large farm with an inn and, eventually, today’s organic farm with the adjacent Green Spa Resort Stanglwirt. The property has always been managed by the host family, preserving tradition while implementing new ideas.

Excursions around Going and Kitzbühel

In addition to the mountain activities, it’s worth exploring the surrounding area. Going, a village near Kitzbühel and home to the Stanglwirt, is known for its picturesque, traditional village square. Just a few kilometers away lies Kitzbühel, one of the most famous winter sports resorts in the Alps. From there, you can visit other small alpine villages, rustic inns, fortresses, castles, and churches, and experience traditional craftsmanship.

You can easily reach the Stanglwirt by train. And the advantage of choosing the more sustainable option of public transportation is twofold: it’s better for the environment, and you’ll be treated to an exclusive “green amenity” in your room!

…by train: It takes only about ten minutes to reach the Johann in Tirol train station by car. The train stations in Kitzbühel, Kufstein, and Wörgl are also just a quarter of an hour (Kitzbühel) or half an hour away. The hotel offers a shuttle/chauffeur service, and the Wilder Kaiser vacation region organizes a free transfer service.
… by car: You can come via the A12 from Germany or Switzerland, the Brenner Highway from Italy, or the A1 from eastern Austria. Note: There is no longer a vignette requirement between Kiefersfelden and the Kufstein-Süd highway exit.
…by plane: The nearest airports are Salzburg, Innsbruck, and Munich.

From the mountain pasture to the kitchen: Culinary delights at the Stanglwirt

“A farm with an attached luxury hotel” – that’s how the Hauser family describes the Stanglwirt, emphasizing the importance of their food production. As the foundation of their philosophy and identity, organic farming is ever-present: meadows, barns, and alpine pastures shape the surrounding landscape; the children’s farm is a highlight for guests of all ages; and the fresh organic products on your plate literally come from right next door.

The Stanglwirt’s organic farming

The farm, certified to EU organic standards, has been part of the Stanglwirt for centuries and produces fresh organic products for the hotel’s restaurant kitchens. The management of the approximately 85 hectares of grassland and 52 hectares of alpine pasture adheres to high ecological standards and is regularly inspected. It is also based on traditional methods of hay production and alpine farming. For guests, this closeness to nature and agriculture is part of everyday life at the wellness resort. There are many connections and interdependencies between the farm and the hotel: hikes to the ox farm on the Stangl-Alm, the scent of hay during harvest season, watching the cows from the “Kuhstube” in the traditional inn, and, of course, the hotel’s own milk and meat products, such as the nearly famous Stangl cheese.

In-house production

Some of the food served at Stanglwirt’s restaurants is produced on the premises. This includes the milk from the resort’s cows, which is used to make cheese, yogurt, and other products. In addition the resort also boasts its own butcher shop where it makes meat and sausage specialties. Thanks to in-house production, many distances are kept short. The route from the alpine pasture or barn to the kitchens is measured in meters rather than kilometers.

Restaurants and regional cuisine

The Stanglwirt’s restaurants draw on their agricultural heritage. Tyrolean specialties are served alongside modern Alpine and international dishes in various dining rooms and restaurant areas. The kitchen emphasizes seasonal menus and uses regional ingredients. The homemade products are complemented by ingredients from select producers in the surrounding regions.

For the consideration of other guests, dogs are not allowed in the restaurant, wellness area, or on the Kaiser-Wiese. However, bringing your dog to the traditional inn is no problem. The hotel charges €45.00 per night. By the way, a dog walking and care service is also available for an additional fee with advance notice.
