Where history lives on and is shaped sustainably

At the Hotel Klosterbräu, the connection between the past and the future is palpable: the hotel preserves its historic architecture while responsibly developing it further with natural, locally sourced materials.

  • Protection of the historic building
  • Originally built as a monastery in 1516, it has been used for tourism for around 200 years
  • Regular energy-efficient renovations since 2010
  • Renovations largely use natural materials
  • The highest possible proportion of wood is used
  • 85% of the materials used for renovations and investments are sourced from regional suppliers

Energy with responsibility

At the Hotel Klosterbräu in Seefeld, energy is used consciously. The hotel continuously works to improve its energy efficiency — and thus its carbon footprint — and has already implemented numerous measures.

  • Ongoing CO₂ and energy optimization in collaboration with Siemens
  • Completely fossil fuel-free since 2020
  • Main energy supply via a wood chip plant
  • Remaining energy from 100% green electricity
  • Solar thermal system for hot water production
  • Some ventilation systems with heat recovery
  • Use of waste heat from cold rooms to preheat water
  • Use of traditional room keys instead of electronic door locks — saving hundreds of batteries every year
  • Motion detectors in public areas

Every drop counts

Whether showering, cleaning, or drinking, efficient technology ensures your comfort without any waste.

  • Bed linen and towels are only changed upon guest request
  • Water-saving fittings are installed during renovations
  • Use of water-saving dishwashers
  • Automatic shut-offs where possible (e.g., in sanitary areas, wellness areas, kitchens)
  • Filling and carbonating drinking water bottles ourselves
  • Shower heads and faucets equipped with water-saving nozzles
  • Chemical-free cleaning of rooms and public areas with steam cleaners

Recycling instead of disposal

The Hotel Klosterbräu has a well-thought-out waste prevention and recycling concept in place and is continuously working to expand it.

  • Refillable soap and shampoo dispensers
  • Composting food waste to produce humus for our agricultural operations
  • Digitization of delivery notes and invoices
  • Use of 100% recycled material for toilet paper, napkins, and other paper products
  • No plastic bottles. If disposable containers are necessary, they are made exclusively from recycled or natural materials
  • Comprehensive waste separation throughout the hotel, with the option for guests to dispose of their personal waste separately

From the region. For the region.

At Hotel Klosterbräu, enjoyment and responsibility go hand in hand. The ingredients are sourced from the surrounding area or the hotel’s own farm, and the locally inspired dishes change with the seasons. Transparency is a key principle.

  • Preference for regional producers: 90% of the bread comes from the local, traditional Ruetz bakery
  • Preference for organic products (organic is part of the hotel’s philosophy)
  • Eggs, potatoes, and hay milk are sourced from the hotel’s own farm
  • Priority is given to regional and seasonal products, and the menu has a seasonal focus
  • Some of the eggs are produced on site.
  • Origin labeling of products, including information on the distance
  • 50% of the menu is vegan or vegetarian, and vegetarian dishes are explicitly advertised
  • Veggie days with a purely vegetarian menu
  • Most wines are from Austria and neighboring countries
  • No imported meat from overseas

Responsibility that extends beyond the hotel

Sustainability means more than just environmental awareness. Through its commitment to families, sports, and regional initiatives, the hotel demonstrates that social engagement extends beyond its own boundaries.
