The transformation began with as much improvisation as dedication. The first wellness area was a small basement sauna, and treatments were conducted in a repurposed conference room. Its conference tables served as treatment tables equipped with cushions and blankets. Guests were thrilled with the new offerings. For the host, Heiner Buckermann, this period was an important guide as the initial steps toward a wellness hotel gradually evolved into today’s holistic concept centered on wellness, regeneration, and health. Over the years, the offerings were continuously expanded and refined. The conference tables were replaced with real massage tables, and one sauna became twelve. Today, the spa area spans approximately 4,000 square meters across several levels.

The classic concept of wellness quickly evolved into a clear vision for the Zum Kurfürsten: relaxation and health should go hand in hand. Moreover, it should not be viewed as merely a short-term solution, but rather as motivation for making positive, long-term lifestyle changes. This is how Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) became part of the concept.
