General Information about the United States
With varied geography including deserts, mountains, coast lines, great plains, combined with rural, and urban areas, the United States has destinations for every type of traveler. The U.S. extends from the Atlantic to Pacific Oceans and from the Gulf of Mexico up to Canada. Each region has its own distinct personality from quaint seaside villages in New England, the energy and excitement of New York City, Los Angeles, and Miami, independent spirit of the West, the South’s hospitality and genteel charm, and the laid back cool of the West Coast. Conservation has long been a part of American culture. The National Parks Service now protects 51.9million acres (210,000km2) of land for enjoyment of future generations.
