Sustainability at the Heart of the New Natur SPA
The Naturhotel Outside in East Tyrol has responded perfectly to these needs with its new Natur SPA. Here, winter is an invitation to recharge one's batteries in the middle of the mountains and to consciously focus on the essentials. The centerpiece is the first Deferegger healing brine bath, which provides regeneration and relief with its constant 35°C and mineral-rich composition.
The Deferegger healing water is characterized by its origin and its health benefits. It comes from a depth of 1,850 meters from St. Jakob in the East Tyrolean Defereggental and is an impressive 600,000 years old, making it one of the oldest healing waters in the world. The iodine-rich brine thermal spring contains a high concentration of minerals and trace elements, is completely germ-free, and has disinfectant properties against bacteria, viruses, and fungi.
In addition to the brine pool, the new spa concept offers a heated outdoor pool (also 35°C) and an indoor pool with a cozy lounge area. For sauna lovers, there are five different saunas, including a Finnish sauna, a brine steam bath, and a bio sauna. Peace and relaxation can be found in the spacious relaxation rooms designed with local natural materials such as Swiss stone pine and larch. Another highlight is the yoga area with a light-filled indoor room and an outdoor yoga deck. From summer 2025, the facilities will be expanded to include a newly designed 1000 m² SPA garden with an extended natural pool.
Active and Sustainable: Hiking, Biking, and Winter Adventures
In the Hohe Tauern National Park, resilience - the inner strength to cope with life's challenges - is supported in a natural way. A deliberate retreat into nature, a return to simplicity, and being surrounded by silence contribute to lasting relaxation. As a certified hiking hotel, Naturhotel Outside organizes weekly guided tours of varying difficulty, both in summer and winter, free of charge. The hotel provides backpacks and walking sticks on request.
Amid East Tyrol's snowy winter wonderland, a variety of winter sports activities are also available. Far from mass tourism, visitors can explore the National Park on the many downhill and cross-country ski trails. Ski touring or a ride on the lighted natural toboggan run through the tranquil landscape allows you to observe fauna and flora in their natural winter slumber.
Winter Specials from January 2025
Starting in January 2025, the Naturhotel Outside will offer a series of special vacation packages that combine active recreation, wellness, and local cuisine. The packages include guided snowshoe hikes and, as an eco-friendly alternative to snowmobiling, exploring the snowy landscape on an electric moon bike.
Sustainability in Focus: Certifications and Measures
The year 2024 also marked another milestone in sustainability, as the company's ongoing environmental efforts were recognized with Austrian Eco-label and EU Ecolabel re-certifications. These recognitions are reflected in a wide range of measures, from resource-efficient operations to food waste reduction.
The Austrian certification "Österreichisches Umweltzeichen (ÖUZ) is one of the most important environmental certifications in Austria and serves as a recognized seal of quality for environmentally friendly products and services. The EU Ecolabel is the official European eco-label for particularly environmentally friendly products and services.
