Inkaterra supports sustainable water management

Download

Inkaterra is expanding its commitment to sustainable development in Peru. The company signed an inter-institutional agreement with the El Alto District Administration and the EPS Grau water utility to promote the reuse of treated wastewater for ecological projects and public green spaces.

Inkaterra founder and CEO José Koechlin and El Alto Mayor Reedy Bancayan signed the agreement. The collaboration aims to develop sustainable water solutions while ensuring wastewater treatment meets applicable environmental standards..

Water filtration using plants

The water will be purified using phytoremediation systems—natural filtration methods that use plants—and then used to irrigate the tropical dry forest. This ecosystem is one of the most sensitive landscapes in northern Peru. Through this initiative, they aim to strengthen native tree species, such as the Peruvian carob tree (Prosopis pallida), which plays an important role in the region’s biodiversity.

This project is part of a comprehensive effort to develop Cabo Blanco as the world’s first climate-neutral beach destination.
