From Monastic Farmstead to Wellness Resort: 525 Years of the Klosterhof

The Klosterhof in Bayerisch Gmain has a history spanning more than five centuries. To celebrate this milestone, an anniversary weekend was held in late May, attended by guests from the worlds of politics, religion, and the local community. Among those offering congratulations was Michaela Kaniber, Bavaria’s Minister of State for Food, Agriculture, Forestry, and Tourism.

Today’s wellness and health resort, Klosterhof – Alpine Hideaway & Spa, can trace its origins back to 1501, when the property was used as a farmstead by the Augustinian monks. Parts of the historic structure have been preserved to this day. Since acquiring the building in 2011, Dr. Andreas and Henrike Färber have gradually and sustainably renovated it to adapt it to its current use.

The anniversary was celebrated with concerts, a community festival, and other events. The focus was on both the property’s long history and its significance for tourism in the region.
