Culture in the DACH Region, South Tyrol, and Nepal in the Fall of 2024
#1 Poets' Festival in Erlangen (29 August to 1 September)
For those who decide at the last minute, the Erlangen Poets' Festival is just around the corner on Thursday, August 29. Founded in 1980, the literary festival features some 80 events with writers, journalists, and literary critics on the topic of contemporary literature - your prelude to the Fall of Books!

Sustainable accommodation: The family-run city Hotel Luise is a green gem and a prime example of sustainable hotel management. #2 Bad Kissingen Open Air (29 August to 1 September)
There is also an open-air festival this weekend at the Luitpoldpark in Bad Kissingen. Anyone born before 1990 should be familiar with the acts performing there. They include Ronan Keating (Aug. 29), Santiano (Aug. 30), and The Boss Hoss (Sept. 1). On Saturday, Aug. 31, there will be a "90s Super Show" featuring all the hits played on radio and TV at the time: Captain Jack, Loona, Rednex, Aquagen, and many more.

Sustainable Accommodation: The STURM in Mellrichstadt is perfect for relaxing after a concert. It is a quiet hotel with a natural swimming pond and a large garden. #3 Mental Health Festival on the Ritten in South Tyrol (September 7 and 8)
Music + coaching = magic - that's what the Mental Health Festival with Maik Baum promises. There will be mental coaching directly from the stage. Additional offerings include yoga, pilates, dance, and food stalls.

Sustainable Accommodation: APIPURA hotel rinner is the perfect place for those who value a healthy lifestyle, organic food, a cozy atmosphere, and alternative wellness. This extraordinary hotel was built by a beekeeper, so it's no wonder that the theme of "bees and honey" runs throughout the entire hotel. #4 Warpe Arts and Crafts Market (September 21)
Twietmeyer's Garden in the small community of Warpe in Lower Saxony is a real insider tip. The lovingly and naturally landscaped private garden is often used as a venue for events where the atmosphere is always relaxed and informal. On Saturday, September 21, there will be a hobby and craft fair with homemade cakes and "garden art" such as flower arrangements and bed plugs.

Sustainable Accommodation: The Eco-Hotel Okelmann's is firmly rooted in Warpe. It is housed in a building that dates back to 1879 and is now run by the fourth generation of the family. Here you can enjoy a wonderful vacation with your dog, or relax with yoga and walks in the countryside.
#5 Alpine cattle drive and rural culture in the Tyrolean Alpbachtal (September 21 and 28)
On the last two weekends of September, Reith im Alpbachtal hosts one of the largest cattle drives in Tyrol. The time when the cows return to the valley for the winter is traditionally accompanied by a large folk festival and attracts visitors from all over the world. You will see colorfully decorated cows, music groups in traditional costumes and festive dances, alphorn players, and whip crackers. There is also a craft market and Tyrolean delicacies.

Sustainable Accommodation: At Hygna Chalets you can experience Tyrolean chalet flair combined with luxury. There are eleven sustainably built wooden chalets, some with private whirlpools and/or saunas. In addition, the small chalet village has an infinity pool and fitness room, so you can take a break from the vibrant farming culture and enjoy your own personal spa time.
#6 YOUNIQUE Fall Festival in Seefeld (October 5)
On Saturday, October 5, 2024, the Hotel Klosterbräu in Seefeld will host an Autumn Festival. The day starts with a hike to the Reitherjochalm followed by a gala evening with live music and a show program in the garden. The hotel bar will be open for dancing and party music.

Sustainable Accommodation: The Hotel Klosterbräu is both the organizer of the festival and your accommodation. Built within the walls of a 500-year-old monastery, the hotel is now in its sixth generation of family ownership. You can stay in the new Nature Rooms, for example, which were built entirely from sustainable, regional materials - the solid wood, for example, comes from the hotel's forest.
#7 Musical LUDWIG² in Füssen (Performances 4 Times a Week)
August 25, was the birthday of Ludwig II, born 178 years ago. The musical about the life of the Bavarian "fairy tale king", who commissioned the building of Neuschwanstein Castle, is the perfect cultural accompaniment for a weekend in the Allgäu region. It will be performed at the Festspielhaus Füssen.

Sustainable Accommodation: The Spa & Boutique Resort Das Rübezahl is located in Füssen and is a partner of the Festspielhaus. The hotel overlooks Neuschwanstein Castle and is popular with couples for its romantic atmosphere. (Proposals are not uncommon here either :D)
#8 Familien-Musical in Friedrichshafen (11. Oktober)
True beauty lies within. Such is the message of the family musical "Unicorns really do exist" on Friday, October 11 at the Graf Zeppelin Haus in Friedrichshafen. The friends of the story include a star without light and a fairy without wings. In the end, being different is not a disadvantage. In addition to imaginative sets and costumes, 32 music pieces were composed.

#9 Dashain Festival in Nepal (October 3-16)
Finally, we would like to recommend a very special cultural event. Dashain is a harvest festival and the longest Hindu festival in Nepal. Two weeks of rituals, celebrations, and family gatherings. For the first ten days, pilgrims flock to various rivers and shrines. In some places, sword processions (Paayaa) are held and animal sacrifices are made. On the last day (Kojagrat Purnima) there are new clothes, family celebrations, and big parties with village swings and kite flying. Visiting Nepal during this time is an experience!
