Sustainable Cycling Hotels for Summer Vacations on Two Wheels
Summer is approaching and with it the thought of how to actually travel to the vacation destination. More and more people are answering this question by pointing to their bikes. Bikepacking and bicycle tours are in vogue. Accommodation providers have also noticed this and are making sure that cycling holidaymakers feel right at home with bicycle workshops, drying rooms and, of course, delicious, healthy food.

Woran erkennt man ein fahrradfreundliches Hotel?
As for just about anything, there are of course also certifications and labels for cycling hotels. In Germany, the award of the Allgemeiner Deutscher Fahrradclub (ADFC) is the most widespread. The catalogue of criteria not only includes the presence of lockable bicycle rooms, repair kits and drying rooms, but also requires that bicycle travellers can stay for just a single night and that a full breakfast is on offer.
The criteria of the ADFC provide a useful means of orientation when you are looking for accommodation for your own cycling trip. The possibility of safe and dry storage for the bike and the opportunity to dry clothes are especially important. You can only carry a limited amount of luggage on your bike, so rain-soaked clothes must be dried overnight if you don't want to slip into soggy shorts in the morning. You should also make sure that breakfast is provided (or that the accommodation has a small kitchen), with muesli, fruit, yoghurt, etc. in addition to bread rolls and jam. As a traveller on two wheels, you cover a lot of kilometres and therefore need plenty of energy!
Sustainable and bicycle-friendly Accommodation in Germany, Austria and Switzerland
If you are already travelling sustainably, then of course you also want to stay sustainably. We therefore showcase bicycle friendly and, above all, sustainable accommodations in the DACH region that are perfectly prepared for cycling travellers.
Creativhotel Luise in Erlangen
The city hotel not far from the centre of Erlangen is ideal for exploring Franconian Switzerland by bike, or for resting your legs after such an expedition. The ADFC-awarded hotel offers cyclists everything their heart desires and also has a small wellness area and a cosy roof terrace where you can end the day with a view over Erlangen.
SCHWARZWALD PANORAMA in Bad Herrenalb
The Bad Herrenalber Wellness Hotel SCHWARZWALD PANORAMA has also been awarded by the ADFC and offers cyclists everything they need for a relaxing stay: From a drying room to a bicycle cellar to repair facilities. Guests can also look forward to a rich breakfast buffet and, of course, use the large spa area. Our tip: after a long tour, a massage is a very welcome indulgence!

STURM in Mellrichstadt
On the edge of the Rhön Biosphere Reserve, the organically oriented STURM welcomes its guests - and of course guests arriving by bike. A lockable bicycle cellar is available, where batteries can also be charged if necessary. The STURM team also recommends that travellers without their own bike explore the beautiful Rhön on two wheels. Mountain bikes can be rented directly on site and guided bike tours are also available.
The Peak in Sölden
The Ötztal is a popular destination for cyclists of all types. Particularly since the establishment of the Bike Republic Sölden. Various tours, downhill runs and training opportunities attract beginners and professionals in mountain biking alike. From the holiday flats and chalets of The Peak it is only a few metres to the first routes.
As part of the Bike Homes Ötztal, The Peak offers guests a lockable storage room, a washing service for sportswear and, of course, a facility for washing up bicycles. Repairs are easily possible thanks to the assembly stand and tool kit.
Genießerhotel Die Forelle in Techendorf at Lake Weissensee

With a view of Lake Weissensee, you can indulge in local specialties here and you can rest assured: even a bicycle would have sufficed for the food's journey to the hotel.
