Recipes for the Holidays

During the holidays, we all come closer together and spend some wonderful hours together. You spend time with your family, laugh with your friends and meet people that you may have neglected over the year. For these cozy moments during the cold December, we share two recipes with you – one for mulled wine and for for a coconut poppyseed cake that fits perfectly.

Mulled Wine

This recipe is from Hofgut Hafnerleiten in Lower Bavaria by chef Erwin Rückerl. 

– 2L cider
– 1L apple juice
– 1 cinnamon stick
– 10 cloves
– 100-200g sugar, according to taste
– 5 apples, cut in cubes

How to make it:
Cook all ingredients together and take out cinnamon stick and cloves before serving.


Coconut Poppyseed Cake

This yummy and very easy recipe is from Hotel Lindenwirt, which is perfect for a cold winters day. 

– 500 g sugar
– 250 g shaved coconut
– 250 g egg whites
– 20 g flour
– 600 g poppyseed mass

How to make it:
Mix and bake at 170°C and after cooling, cover with chocolate and cut into pieces.
